No-Cost Portrait Event for Those Less Fortunate

Atonement, Giving Back Through The Lens, and the Shawnee Mission Head Start are partnering to provide no-cost portrait sessions for many of Head Start’s families in need. Participants will receive a portrait session, an 8x10 print and their images on CD. This event will be held in Charter Hall on Saturday, December 4, 2010, from 9 AM to 3:00 PM.

At Atonement’s Turkey Eve Meal there will also be a drawing for several portrait session vouchers. These sessions are for additional dates other than the December 4th event.

Giving Back Through The Lens was created to serve families in need by providing them with portraits and to foster their dignity and self-worth during difficult times. For more information, and to find out how you may assist with this event, please visit www.GivingBackThroughTheLens.org or contact Nathan Choate at (816) 974-8021.

Want to Help with Turkey Eve?

The sign-up kiosk is up in the narthex at Atonement - there are so many ways to help with the Turkey Eve meal from donating food for the meal to washing dishes.

Some of the food items needed are: mashed potatoes, stuffing, jellied cranberries, dinner rolls, pickles, olives, and a variety of pies. Please see the kiosk for specifics on the quantity for each item. All food is to be delivered by 4:00pm on the day of the event.

There are so many volunteer opportunities and spots to fill - people are needed to greet and host our guests, set tables, serve food, assist with children, pray with our guests, clean up and wash dishes. There are many other behind the scenes ways to help, too.

Maryann will be at the kiosk this weekend before and after worship on Saturday and Sunday to help with sign ups and to answer questions about helping at our Turkey Eve Meal.

An Everlasting Covenant

Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."
Genesis 9:16 NIV

This morning the sun was shining during a light sprinkle and a full rainbow was visible over the church. The rainbow reminds us of the covenant that God made with us and that He will take care of all of us. The Turkey Eve Meal on Metcalf is an opportunity for us at Atonement to truly reach wide and share God's love and His covenant with our brothers and sisters in our community.
